The Xperia Play is the latest phone to be introduced from the Sony Ericsson stable and it promises to be keeping in with the traditions of Sony Ericsson. It promises to live up to the name of Sony Ericsson, which is well-known for introducing a number of new gadgets for the mobile phone industry. It was started off with the Walkman series of phones and it is now the gaming segment that Sony Ericsson are targeting with the Xperia Play. Xperia Play on contract provide you just something that fits in your pocket.

The gaming segment needs more addressing than any other segment at the moment as it has been often neglected by manufacturers as they view it as more of a risk than other segments. The Xperia Play will be fully taking towards the gaming segment by providing a 4 inch display that will be useful for seeing the games in the high definition. This is due to the LED backlit LCD technology of the screen, which is also capacitive. The resolution of the screen is around 854 x 480 pixels, which should be sufficient for the various games that this phone can support. The major reason for the support offered to a wide variety of games by the Xperia Play is due to the 1 GHz processor, which might be a single core processor, but is powerful nonetheless.

It is the reason for the phone to provide the FIFA 10 game preloaded. The phone can not only support this only game, but will also be providing the opportunity to play a wide variety of games as well. The gaming experience on the phone is going to be extraordinarily good due to the PSP like gaming buttons that have been used in place of the normal physical full QWERTY keyboard. This would be usually accessible from underneath the touch screen and it is no different in the Xperia Play. However, the buttons that you will be usually accustomed within the physical full QWERTY keyboard have now been replaced by the PSP gaming buttons. The obvious advantage will be better gaming experience as these are now being used universally.

The Xperia Play also focuses on the camera department, even though the main reason for the phone to be created is to satisfy the gaming segment. It offers a five megapixel camera that is furnished with options like LED flash, image stabilisation and Geotagging. However, the STB recording capabilities do not seem to be present within this camera, but it should not be posing too much of a disadvantage for would-be buyers. The Xperia Play will offer the latest Android version 2.3 along with the phone, which is a major difference over the previous Sony Ericsson phones that did not offer these latest versions. The presence of the 8 GB memory card seems to be the reason for the phone to support a wide variety of games as this is plenty of memory for mobile phone gaming. The Xperia Play will be available for around £ 500 in the UK markets. You may also wish to explore more about Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini for other available deals.
